Role overview

Why become an IELTS Speaking Examiner?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) was one of the pioneers of four skills English language testing over 25 years ago, and continues to set the standard for English language testing today.

IELTS measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9). One can sit an IELTS test in more than 1100 locations across the world. Test takers around the world trust and recognise IELTS as a secure, valid and reliable indicator of true-to-life ability to communicate in English for education, immigration and professional accreditation. Now, more than 10,000 organisations accept an IELTS result.

IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment. As internationally focused organisations, we are committed to academic excellence and cultural understanding – ideal providers of international English testing.
